I went out with Glenn to Potholes and we had a great day fishing for walleyes. The largest eyes for the day were a pair of 22 1/2 inchers we caught , a double, and released. We were on the water by 0730 and had a limit by 1030 but half of those were 15 1/2 inches so we spent a couple more hours upgrading those to 16-18 inches. We released 30+ 15 - 15 1/2 inch eyes, Potholes must have had a great spawn a couple of years ago to have that many fish in one year class. Next year should be even better as all of those fish grow an inch or two. Trolling slow death rigs with a smile blade was key as we went back and forth across the front of the dunes. We caught fish in 8 FOW and as deep as 25 FOW. No large concentrations but pretty consistent all day. Silver was the most consistent color for us. We also kept about a dozen jumbo perch. Glenn caught 3 largemouth and I also caught 2 bullheads. It is not often you can spend an October day wearing only a tee shirt and having to apply sunscreen to avoid getting burned. Hopefully next weekends weather will cooperate as well.

What a great year for the potholes. Great report, makes me want to drag my boat over for another slaying.

Just an FYI 2015 state wide is 12" no need to release 15 1/2 :)

Kfedka,
We troll at .9 to1.1 mph up and down the humps.
gohawks,
I impose my own personal slot limit of 16-22 inches.

Is that the fish cleaning station at the state park?? If so, it's great that they have got it up & running. The last 2 times I was there, it was roped off.
