Fished the POR Sat. morning, Sat night, Mon. morn.
Fished off of deep weed lines used spinner baits, and buck tails.
Sat. morning i took the GF out and was determined to get her hooked up. (she doesn’t like pike fishing there because she hates casting so much, the weeds, and the her not getting much action.) on a side note shes a pretty much kicks but at jig fishing. Anyway i got about a 6lber right off the bat and she demanded that i show her why i was always catch them and she doesn’t so I brought her up to the front of the boat put my pole down, worked the trolling motor and told her were she should cast. Looks like i was a pretty good guide because before you know it she caught 7.5lb and 15 minutes later a 9.9lber...The fish were biting but we left because she was hungry.
Friday evening we went out for about 2 hours before dark, She gave it a few casts and decided she wanted to relax and read her book, but i kept at it and hooked into a pig of a fish. As soon as it hit the water splash, I set the hook and handed the pole off to her ( I thought it was another 7lber or so) She fights it for about ten minutes, almost pulls her out of the boat when it dives down deep under the boat when i realizes its about twice as big as i thought it was. She got it to the boat like a champ and it ended up being the biggest one we've got all year 16lbs right on the dot.
Monday morning went out and caught 3 northerns between 5-10lbs and about a 2lb surprise bronzeback.
