Ok so first my disclaimer, I didn't land the fish so it's only speculation at this point. Second I'm an idiot.

So with the morning high tide and my work schedule, I did some scoping on the map and picked out a spot above the tide in Kent. To maximize my time on the water I planned on getting there that hour before sunrise that I'm allowed. So went to dicks and picked up the only green hootchies they had left that glow in the dark. Made up a few jigs.

Got down to the river and heard all kinds of fish rolling, After about 15 minutes I swear I snagged a log. Until it moved! I just sat there and held pressure. It never fought me, just held the bottom. Slowly worked it toward me. Now it's still completely dark out, and I can see my glowing jig on the bottom 3 feet in front of me. Curiosity got the best of me. With my other hand I pulled out my light and flashed it in the water. F me. It was a huge chrome fish. At least 30" plus. To bright and slim to be a king. To long and slim to be any silver I've ever seen on the Green. My only thought was a big summer run steel, definitely a buck. Never seen steel that big in the green before. Anyhow as fast as I shined my light on it, it rolled and ran and was gone. Still most exciting thing yet this year on the green.

That was it. Fouled a few pinks after that. Stayed for an hour left after it was light. Had to get to work. Once the light came up I swear I was standing in a garbage dump. Crap everywhere. Even some dummy left a big illegal filleted king on the bank to rot. Some people...

Nothing makes a better story than the one that got away.
