Headed down to Lyons Ferry right after work friday for some chinook fishing. Put in at 500 p.m. Dad got a 8 lb right off the bat and I had to turn a wild one loose. My dad then got a hit on the crippled minnow we were using and the fight began!
With the new pole and reel bent completely over, my dad tried to pull the fish up. He got it no closer than 20 feet from the boat and down he went. The fish ran for the ladder at the Hatchery and took out 160 feet. Dad dragged him back and the fish swirled once at the top and immediately went to the bottom taking 150 feet on his second run. We couldn't see him as the light had faded and it was getting dark. Dad no sooner and got him back again and he went under the boat and headed for the middle of the river. At this time we were anchor up and chasing him because we couldn't stop his runs. As my dad continued to tighten the drag and pull him back, he went on another run up river. We no sooner and got that line in and off he went for the ladder again pulling out 178 feet of line. I held the flashlight on the reel so we could monitor the distance. At this point my dad had had him on for over 1 hour and 5 minutes. (20 lb test) OKumo Magda Pro distance reel and a Quantum Tour Edition 8 1/2ft medium action pole. Although my dad did his best to bring him in, he could not get him off the bottom or stop his runs. An hour and 10 minutes into his 5 run, the fish got off and my dad reeled in his line. The hook had gone straight. My dad mentioned something about probably from China !!!!!! and we need to put some of our stronger US hooks on.

Well it was time for dinner, so off to the Rawhide in Starbuck. Once there my dad walked in and immediately thought theres some strange people in Starbuck. People were dressed as Batman, Robin, Dracula, Vampires ect. singing some rough Kareoke. Now my dads 80 so when I mentioned it was a Halloween Party, he said Oh! As we went in the owner gave us a ticket each for a prize drawing. As we ate and drank, the first number came up and you guessed it, I won a 2 foot glass budweiser bottle to use as a bank. 2 prizes later and my dad one the other bottle up for grabs. We got key chains and a gal thats the The gal who works as the fish counter sat with us also and we continued to have a great time. As I was leaving, someone came out and brought me a knife and said the gal inside meant for me to have it. Fabulous way to finish the day off.

Saturday, Fish on! Another Chinook, later trolling provided me with my first Steelie 5 lb. A little later we started jigging and wam! I got the biggest small mouth bass in. 3 Jacks later into the boat and turning wilds away. The wind kicked up, but we still had a great day.

Sunday, Fish on! 2 more jacks in the boat and one wild fish. The wind kicked up again, but it was still a fantastic weekend.

This time I'm submitting a few photos.
Enjoy!
