We set out from Mukilteo for Possession Point at 4:30am along with 250+ other boats.

It was like driving during rush hour on I-5 with no north/south divider and no over passes. Everybody motoring pell-mell a 1 mph, so it was all about avoidance. We saw only a few fish on Sonar all morning and saw a total of 3-5 fish pulled in by other boats, none of which were the big Kings we were looking for.

Not a single bite on our lines and we tried all depths from 40 down to 120 as well as all lures, plugs, spoons flashers, etc.

I DID get a call from my buddy in Alaska telling me he knows why there are no kings here this year...because about 80% of the fish caught with transponders in in their heads are from Washington/British Columbia! While they're having record runs in Alaska, we're (meaning us and the Orca) are dying down here! They need to re-think the fishing regulations in Alaska to allow more of our hatchery fish to return!

1mph is to slow for kings. To be honest I dont look at speed but rather downrigger line angle. I want about a 45 angle while trying to maintain under 3.5 mph.
