Mike and I enjoyed a glorious October day on Potholes. First stop yielded a largemouth for Mike on a jig and I caught 2 gills and a bullhead on a dropshot. Then we went trolling. We didn't catch our first eye till 0900. Green and gold blades worked well in the morning and by noon green and blue blades were the ticket. 8 to 20 FOW on the face of the dunes was where we spent the day. 30+ eyes, some stud perch and a few bluegills. I cleaned 14 nice eaters. I released a nice 24 incher that hit in 6 FOW. The water was up a couple of more feet since last weekend. Although the water is up, the eyes seem to be holding on the same structure as a month ago. Several of the eyes were stuffed with 3/4 inch baby bluegills. Makes sense why Mike was having such good luck with a blue blade.

Another fine day for you, bluegill is so good. Ate a lot of bluegill as a kid when I lived in Minnesota. Last night we cooked walleye and ling cod cheeks. Yum.

The bluegills are really hanging on the fish structure boxes on Potholes. I saw them on my lowrance but never stopped to target them. I would imagine a dropshot with a hunk of nightcrawler could really do some damage if someone really wanted to catch a pile of them

Nice!

We were out this weekend but made a fatal mistake - forgot the fish finder monitor so were going a bit blind. Still managed a pretty good day with bass and walleye.

The winds picked up the following day make it more challenging, but the small mouth off the dam were feasting in the AM. The face of the dunes didn't produce that much (again I'm sure not knowing the contours below or boats around to use as a guide had an impact).
