We were delayed getting to the lake for the start of this new season, but it was still worthwhile. Sunny, light wind, 65 degree day and 65 degree water temp. We fished 11-2pm and was pleased upon arriving at the ramp to be the only ones there. Eventually the lake got fairly busy with paddleboarders, kayaks and one other fishing boat. There were several families shore fishing, perhaps for Mother's Day.

I must have been winter-rusty as I missed three very strong hits and at least six more light bites. P and K was sure I smelled like skunk, but fortunately they were upwind and didn't realize I boated a pumpkinseed so I wasn't a zilch. We all agreed K lost the biggest fish of the day as we watched a nice trout jump several times and get away. P and I were tickled with our fresh line we'd spooled on our reels and we goaded K that he'd be sorry not putting on new line. But, we couldn't blame his rotten line for breaking and losing the biggest fish. It just threw the hook.

Aside from tucking into shore to eat a picnic lunch of ham sandwiches, we stayed on the trout-troll. While all our boated fish were small it was still a treat. They were all trophies in our eyes as we were FISHING finally! The final catch and release count was me 1 pumpkinseed, K. 2 trout and 2 bass, and P came away with the Best Bobber Trophy with 5 trout, 4 pumpkinseed and 1 bass. Until next time. (I'll catch the BIG fish....)
