So I did a road trip over the mountains yesterday for fall fishing. Usually I do great in September but fishing was weak yesterday. I started at Rimrock and they have the lake access mostly shut down, but I found some access though I had to take my kayak down at least 100 yards to the low lake. I had a good fish on almost right away but it got off and fishing was weak after that. The waters is still warm so probably when it drops a few degrees they will start their pre-winter feeding frenzy. I only caught two average cutties though I had a few decent bites, so then I went up the road to Clear lake.
The water is much colder and clearer in Clear and people were catching some fish. I only caught one halfway decent rainbow and had a few bites but I started after one in the afternoon. I'm sure the fishing would be decent here in the morning or evening. Landed 3 overall, not a great day but lots of scenery including fall colors and some elk on the way up.
