Pond 1 was totally killed off then became a Walleye research pond and I have never seen a reason as to why Pond #2 was closed. It appears finally that all 7 of the I-82 ponds are now open to fishing per http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/washington/611/ Makes me sad that I don't live nearby them anymore as this was where my Grandpa taught me how to fish when I was just a little fella years ago.
I'd love to spend some time down there and learn these ponds. Been a while, I remember walking through a big pipe thingy to get to one of the ponds.......?????????? or a lake nearby?????????

Pond #6 is always where I had the best luck and it has drive up access, paved parking, and is a lot easier to get to right off Buena Loop Rd. No dock (at least last time I was there) but plenty of EASY shore access, and it's where the state record 36lb channel cat was caught.

Thanks MUCH for this tip! I was talkin with the misses an hour ago about heading to Wapato this weekend. LOL She just wakes up and I'm drilling her to "get packed cause after your chemo friday, we're hitting the road!" LOL
