Caught a limit of trout this afternoon in about an hour using chartreuse power eggs. It was really windy which can be the norm if you know Ellensburg this time of year, so technique is important. When it is windy I use a 1/2 to 3/4 ounce egg sinker behind a swivel with a 3 to 6 foot leader on a light action pole. Now you all know how hard it is to tell the difference between the wind and a strike. So what I do is reel a lot of tension in the line so the rod tip is good and bent. Be Careful not to reel so much that you move the sinker on the bottom of the lake and pull your bait into the weeds where the fish can't see it. Place your rod on your favorite pole holder/stick and wait for the rod tip to go straight. When it does you just had a strike and you know what to do from there. I have found this to work extremely well for windy conditions and I hope it works for you.
