Tried fishing a secret lake in the morning to see if it held any good sized perch, caught a very little bluegill. Got to eloika about noon and started fishing out from grays landing. Headed out towards the middle and worked our way out farther until we decided to work our way back. No bites. When we got back in closer to shore near where the creek comes in, we stopped and used some old holes. Managed to get a few decent sized perch and many little bluegill on the ice starting about 3:45 PM. I don't know what they were using but a few of the folks around us were really nailing them, although it didn't look like they had much size to them. Tried again Sunday morning, caught 2 about 10:00 AM then nothing till I left about 1:00 PM. I tried fishing in close where I caught them on Saturday and tried out in the deeper water and nothing after the first two. I didn't feel too bad as that seemed to be the fate of everyone else. This lake is pretty frustrating because I know it has lots of fish, but it is either catch lots of fish or almost none. Does anyone have any methods to tell if a day is going to be good for fishing. I do enjoy fishing whether or not I catch fish but if I could tell with any kind of certainty that I wasn't going to catch fish, I would do something else with my wife and dogs.
