Here is my report from the Wapato opener for last Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Fishing was a lot slower than the previous two years. We got there Saturday evening, and caught none that night, heard it was slow going. Got to it early on Sunday and took 5 fish for a full day, with a group of 7 people fishing, some from the bank, and some in my portabote. They ranged from 13 to maybe 16 inches (the 5 fish picture in the kitchen sink). I caught none on Sunday. Trolling in the boat, the green wedding ring with a worm on it, behind pop gear seemed to do the best. From the shore is was powerbait/eggs dipped in Berkley trout dip.

It was my first time using my fish finder... fish seemed sparse and sticking to the bottom. Water temp looked to be about 52 degrees. Water was murkier than in the past. And we heard they had snow the week before. Trolled about 1.3 mph ground speed. Weather was pretty sunny. And there were much less other anglers working the lake.

I finally caught one 13 incher on Monday morning, after investing in the pop gear and doing that wedding ring and worm (the single fish picture). But my friends were getting none, so we decided to head over to Rufus Woods for the first time to check it out. See my new report there.
