I met up with Mike mid morning to target some Tiger Muskies. The day was fair with a light SW wind about 5-10 MPH. The air temperature was 62 degrees and the water temperature was 50.
Using our pontoon boats we started working the shoreline by the north road and gradually cruised down the east side of the lake to the rock point that has a small light house on the rocks. We tried throwing a variety of flies in different sizes and colors.
While following the shallows, we both noticed that we were not seeing any fish at all. No perch, crappie, trout or blue gills. That was rather puzzling, since usually you can spot some kind of fish in the water. I did not see any fish rising, especially trout. There was a chironomid hatch coming off, yet no fish were surfacing.
The people fishing the north end of the lake also noticed the same situation. Mike had talked with a guy at the launch when he arrived and he said that he was going down to the south end. He stated that in the last few days, there had been some activity down there. The reason might be that the water in the larger shallow areas might be warmer.
The next trip out there, we are going to take Mike's boat with a motor. Our plan is to cruise the entire shoreline and take notice of the the structure and also take different water temperatures. Before yesterday, it has been about 30 years since I have fished Silver Lake.

Sorry it didn't go so well. Hopfully better luck next time. I'll be on Silver in 3 weeks,I guess I'll have to see how it is then.

thanks for the email- I finally had the chance to respond. What a bummer about the maiden voyage at silver for the muskie, but any day on the water is better than one at work, even if you get skunked.. I had the same fishless lake experience at Newman a week ago- not even a bluegill or anything. Definitely no tigers.. They are oh so elusive.... Part of the intrigue I guess! Tell Mike I said to say hi and good luck next week- I am also on the quest and will keep you posted.
