My wife and I got out on the lake at about 10:30 Sat. morning and there were a lot of boats on the lake. We put in to join the "crowd" of boats and started to the right of the dock a couple hundred yards down and made our way down the bank. I started with a YUM Eel that I picked up off of Bill Dance and I figured I'd give it a try so within a couple minutes I had a good hard hit but I set the hook and sadly had nothing on. I had a couple other hits on it later but never set anything on it. Amongst the couple hits i had on it I also, of course, had a lot of snags. One nice thing about this lure is with a couple of good jerks it usually will work itself out. I switched and used everything from lipless cranks to jigs to spinners. I didn't want to use my favorite for Bass and that is, oddly enough, RAPALAS. I know that cranks are considered an "idiot bait" but I like using them and if your not going to use what works best for you then why fish? So I switched to the RAP after we moved to the other side of the lake to the left of the park (opposite the boat ramp) if your facing it. We worked right into the cove. I had changed my bait right at the start of the curve into the cove, that is, right on the big point. After about 10 casts I hooked into a nice little 2.5 lb. largemouth. i only used my rap for about 45 min. until it was time for us to leave. We had already been there for about 6.5 hours. So the day was unproductive until the RAP came out. It was still fun though and as I've only been Bass fishin for about 3 or 4 seasons now (only 2 really intensely) I still have much to learn and techniques to get down (this was also my first time being to this lake as I just moved here last year) so I blame me for part of the inactivity. Though, only a few were being pulled that day from what I had heard talking to people so that makes me feel better :-). If you do go out... watch the bow and bring weedless gear. Lots of stumps! Also, good techniques and tricks to this lake and others in the area for largemouths are greatly accepted and appreciated. FISH ON!
