Arrived at Tanwax at 0500 am. Decided to fish from the Camp Lakeview floating dock instead of offloading the pontoon. The water was calm, no wind...the sun even peeked out once or twice.

Checked the water for critters that may be swimming about...found a few shucks I couldn't readily identify. Found a few flies skipping around the water and tried to match it the best I could. Started out with a Soft Hackle Midge, but no takers. Got bored with getting shut out and switched to floating a chironomid under an indicator. Got a couple bites...but missed the hook set...again. Started going googly-eyed watching the indicator and changed to a sinking tip line and bottom bouncing a nymph along the bottom. Again, no takers.

Decided to float a nymph under an indicator for a while and finally got some hits. Of course, I missed the hook set on a couple. Did manage to hook into and land one 14" rainbow. A tough day...but worth the experience. Trying to "match the hatch" is proving to be quite the challenge...but an interesting learning process none-the-less.

Good day on the water...until it started raining. Left around 1000 am.
