The Bass are often deep in the pads right now. The dudes you saw had one of the better methods. This pattern will hold up for a couple more weeks, maybe, perhaps, well I think so (LOL).
Other than that, Bazzdude was right, Elokia is a better early season lake.

7/4/2008 8:56:00 PMIt's good late in the season too- after the weeds start going away. It's open year round so when the others start closing down this one is a good reliable one to fall back on. The NE corner is a sweet spot for me. I usually throw spinners out with some success, but have tried the "spinner beetle" as of late and it works pretty well as long as I get the colors right. You can fish these like spinners or jigs and I have caught bass and trout on the same lure; adding a peice of worm to it has caught me some perch as well. If you have a small shallow water boat and can get in there, the west branch of the little spokane river is accessable from the lake and has bass, rainbows, browns and perch, just be aware of the timing as the regs are different for the river than the lake.
