After a morning of chores, my wife, the dogs & I went up to Lost Lake for the afternoon/evening. The east end of the lake was packed with campers, so we went around to the west end and hiked down to the lake, I was surprised that there was only one camper on that end. The Lake (as expected) is really full. It was hard to find a place to fish because the water was so high. But we did find a little nook. It was cloudy, about 62 (air temp) with an off & on breeze, beautiful! My wife & fish dog teamed up, and tried worms under bobber while I threw spinners. I went through a few spinners before I decided to try a bright green Rooster tail, w/brass blade. 1st cast out it got bumped, then I could see this BIG trout following. I let the spinner drop and that is when he took it. Set the hook HARD and snap! All gone.. So, since I only had the one green, I tried the same thing in Orange and used it the rest of the time. Hooked into 6 or 7, all 2-3#. Got three of them to hand, but was only able to get one on the stringer. Why you ask? BECAUSE I FORGOT THE NET! I am fishing with 4# line, balancing on a log that goes into the water, and trying to grab them without losing them, my gear, or going for a swim. I think my wife had more fun watching me, and I know she had never heard me say some of the words I said. Normally this wouldn't frustrate me so much, I release 90% of the fish I catch anyway, but you see my wife got me this smoker for my birthday, and I really want to give it a try, but my luck has sucked this last month, and I wanted a mess o trout to smoke! Oh well, at least I got the one and we had a GREAT 4th. Got home just in time to watch the fireworks on TV. Oh yeah, my wife and fish dog never had any luck with the worms, but heard others were catching them that way.

Nice fish! Sorry you didn't get the others. Good effort. I might have to visit that lake. The chartruese roostertail with the brass blade is my favorite lure that works everywhere.

Good fishing. It is beautiful and the fishing is great. It doesn't show on the plant report but they put Trips in the beginning of last week. Don't keep to many for your smoker. There is a five fish limit but only one can be over 14". I think they hope those Trips last all summer.

Yeah, I love this lake, Especially on a weekday - it is usually all yours. One of my regular haunts. If ya ever want to go Sam, we can take a run up there. Urban, the Chartruese RT is the 1st spinner I ever bought on my own when I was like 7 years old. Always have one in my box. Just wish they were made of sturdier wire, Seems like I am always bending em back into shape. Where did you get the info maggie? How many did they put in there?

I went up July 2. I got there about 6:30 and was the first one on the lake. I caught a trip right off. Than I figured out there were trips all over by the logs at the end of the Lake. A young guy in his float tub who was camping on the lake came out and started having some fun too. I ask him when they had put the fish in and he said the day before. I don't know how many but they were thick at that end of the lake. You could watch them swimming around my tube. I lost a few and only caught and released five 16-18". For all the fish I saw, I really didn't set the world on fire. But I did have a lot of fun. It was agreat day on Lost lake. In fact I have talked my self in going back tomorrow morning.
