being a regular at camp moran every summer, i did my usual daily dose of fishing at cascade and that day did not disappoint! tried for trout early on in the day, around 9:00 am but quickly got bored of casting out power eggs from the shore of our campsite (but i didn't mind exchanging glances with the cute girl in the neighboring campsite ; ) she was into me haha) so i switched from my spinning outfit to my baitcaster with a rattlesnake spinnerbait. it was a medium sized one with a green head with a green and black skirt. and man, were those bass KILLING it! i fished it all day moving along different spots along the southeastern part of the lake, climbing onto fallen trees, even sneaking through some other campsites, working my way up to the beach reserved for the environmental learning center and the dock there (which is now newly remodeled as of June 30 2008). it was the first time i didn't wish i had a boat! all together i caught and released around 20 largemouths, including the biggest one I've caught on this lake a nice 14 inch, 2lb LM. my 2 cousins and my brother fished along with me the whole time and they caught a few nice bass themselves with some plastic lizards, and plastic worms, all around the 11-13 inch range, and my brother even brought in a nice 15 inch rainbow trout on the chartreuse power eggs, and the biggest pumpkinseed I've ever seen in my life! very good day fishing, definitely one of my best. this has become one of my favorite lakes for LM bass, although that is not the primary specie. the trout dominate this lake, but they are still good fun, and good eating if you know how to cook them right. there was also a little bit of sunfish action. as said above my brother caught an extremely large pumpkinseed on the eggs when going after trout. a little bit under 1 lb I'd guess, very bulky, and about 8 inches long. there a were a few other pumpkinseeds and bluegill though all normal sized. i love this lake!!!
