I got to accompany my friend, Tom, and his grandkids Greta, Tommy, and Wyatt (as well as their friend, Rich) as they took his grandkids out for a day of fishing from the dock at Williams Lake. Providence smiles greatly upon those who take the time to enjoy fishing with kids--- and He was smiling big this morning! I was lucky enough that someone else was driving and including me in the fun...

The fishing was pretty slow, but the bobbers used to indicate fish bites did go down occasionally. The excitement at seeing the bobbers dance on the surface before being pulled under by an unseen fish did keep the kids occupied... A little later, to draw more nibbles and bites,
the kids switched to "slip bobbers", with grandpa and Rich doing the setting-up work. The change allowed them to place their bait-- garlic marshmallows and salmon eggs-- at the approximate depth of where the fish were hanging out: 14 feet.
That old gag about garlic marshmallows used to make funny-tasting s'mores NEVER gets tired...

The fishing party enjoyed quite a morning of sunny weather that included a little wind which increased as the morning went on...

There were a dozen or more people fishing from the dock at the time; when a fish was caught and reeled-in, the lucky fisherman was treated to a round of applause from everyone. The sizes of fish that were caught were from the tiny (5") to (13")--- all being observed to be trout.

About an hour into fishing, Tom's grandson Tommy hooked a trout with his Spongebob Squarepants rig, and reeled him in. A prouder kid would be hard to find--- Tommy held his fish high for all to see! He named his fish "Squirmy"...and everyone on the dock applauded him, as it looked like he had caught the biggest fish of the day!

The other two grandkids had caught trout on previous outings--- so things kinda balanced-up. I was glad I was with this little fishing expedition, and look forward to being included in the fishing fun again!
