My wife and I stayed that the Inn at the Lake bed and breakfast for two nights and went up the the Pend O river to fish for Pike (see river report). On Wed morning we decided to cruise around Diamond and fish a little before heading up to the river. I have never fished for bass there and I heard and read that it has a few but is mostly a trout and perch lake. I found some shallow areas around the island and decided to give it a try around the docks. About my tenth cast wham! I hooked a 20 inch, five pound bass. I did not think that they had any big bass in that lake. Either it was a fluke or the fisherman out there have kept it a good secret. Pic is attached.

Just thought I'd let you know, I've fished diamond all my life and I saw your post when I posted mine of the Brown Trout I caught. The Largemouth Bass were illeaglly planted at Diamond, but it really seems to be a great lake for them. The stories I hear from the Bass fishermen there are all the same. If you catch a 2lber you will "see" a 4lber, if you catch a 4lber you will see an 8lber and yes if you are ever lucky enought to catch a 8lber or better, you will see one much bigger than that. I have personally caught (and let go) a few 5lbers and regularly catch the between 2 to 4 pounds. Diamond is a great LMB lake, I have seen 5lb+ bass being chased by VERY LARGE fish. Anyway just thought you should know they are there but many anglers resent that they were illeaglly planted and the fish you caught was no fluke. Diamond may be the best bass lake nobody has ever heard of.
