Had to try whatcom again for the smallies....no luck. But heh, look at the bright side, I'm learning a new lake all on my own!! You can't expect to much being pretty green on a lake. Plus, whatcom is HUGE and DEEP, and WINDY, and SKIERS PARADISE. (can you tell I'm trying to make excuses??) went from 4-6pm, pitched white tubes on a weedles 1/4 oz jig head near pilings and drop-offs, nothing. casted a few mepps (bright colors), nothing. OH well, I'll get a smallie out of there yet...perseverance pays off!! water 69*, wind from the north about 10-15 mph. great evening out, just no fish!!!

just stick to the north end! once you go through the cut, the smallies are few and far between.... find the ole' road bed on the north end with your electronics, and throw top water, and cranks over it first thing!

Rolland , i fished whatcom for the first time this year about a month ago .. Dude that lake is a crankbait lake ... get out your cranks and let them ripp ... dropshots are good as well but you will run into alot of dinks .. BBD

thanks for the tips chad s. and BBD. My first thought was trolling a deep diver perch color, guess I should have went with my first instinct. sounds like I gotta get out of the south side....

Thanks for the report on Lake Whatcom! I am heading up there this weekend. I agree with chad s. stay north of Geneva Point, also just to the east of Geneva are some pretty good rock piles, but South bay is chock full of dinks. Down in the southeast corner were the big creek dumps in can be pretty good? But between there and Geneva Point all along the east side I have personally only ever caught 2 fish....

I am going to try to get up there early Saturday, maybe I'll see ya??
