Bob, my father-in-law, and I went to Amber Lake for the evening. We arrived around 5pm and fished until dark. The weather has been cool the last 2-3 weeks, and we found that the fishing was still good at Amber. Between the three of us, we landed 11 nice rainbows. Many were 17-19 inches long. My father-in-law had an especially good time since he has never fished with a fly rod. The fish were deep. I am guessing that they were in 18-25 feet of water. We used sinking line with leaches and nymphs. Black and olive colors worked equally well. I think that the slow, deep presentation was more important than the fly. We concentrated on fishing the northeast end of the lake.

Air temp: 75-85.
Wind: Calm
Sky: Clear
Water temp: Mid 70s (I'm guessing)

Nice Report. I haven't fished with a fly rod, but man after your report I want to go buy one!
