We started the day with little Perchy warm-up. We went to the weeds at the south end of the lake and got our juices flowing by catching Bluegill and Perch. We fished with wedding rings/worms and basically got a hit or a fish with every cast. Mostly little Bluegills but some nice sized Perch were also willing. We returned all for the next guy.
My buddy Mike thought he saw some bass (polarized lenses) and he decided to fish a sinking Rapala...Boom! He fought a 4.5-5 pound Bass all the way to the boat. It took a hard turn and there went a beautiful fish with a 7 dollar lure, I am sure that fish has a stomach ache today. Mike will get over it after he sees his shrink.
At 6 we decided to still fish for the big guys on the bottom, just off the titty pink house on the point. We went down to 44 feet just 150 yards off the house. We just used a fat Werner's Wiggler on a hook and stayed off the bottom anywhere from 1 foot to 10 feet. We started pulling in the beautiful German Browns and Rainbows. I caught a 15 1/2 inch Rainbow about 10 minutes in and another just a little later. My buds got their limit leaving me to feel a bit neglected. We decided to head back home and get some dinner just as my pole started dipping. After a good fight I reeled in a 21 1/2 inch Grandma Rainbow. I was disappointed that she could not be released as those old girls are delicate. Anyway, she smoked up great and went to a good home, my belly.

There were a few boats on the lake fishing but when you fish Diamond be prepared for Jet Skis and Skiers to be buzzing you all day. Bright sun, 90's, lite wind.
