Got out late around 10 am or so with my best friend. We trolled wedding rings down deep...nothing. So we headed to the concession stand for lunch...mmm. Back on the water, I trolled dick nite with some split shot for a while, same result as before. Switched to a rooster tail and no luck. Still fished with bobbers and crawlers...nothing. Last resort I threw on an f5 flatfish and trolled that about five feet down. Before long BOOM! I had a massive hit and reeled it in assuming I'd missed it because of the lack of resistance. Turns out it was a hard hitting little perch. I let him go and it was around seven or so so we decided to split. It was rainy and cold today, but still reasonably fun. The weather is what I think did us in today. I still love this lake though.

Good report. Definitely give me something to think about when planning my attack while we are up there in a week or so.

I've never had much luck at Cranberry Lake mid/late summer.
I usually stop fishing it in early June, and hold off until the water temps start to drop back down.

At least you caught something!
How does the water look?

Thanks for the report. I was curious how the lake was doing. I am sure the water is warm. I will hit it in late September and into October when the water cools a bit. The Dick Nite spoon is a great choice. I fish it (the frog colored one) right in front of the entrance to the camping area (in the middle of the lake) 14 to 17 feet of water and knock em dead when the water is cooler. 1 split shot so the lure is maybe 8 feet below the surface. I love this lake and have always done great there. Thanks again for the report.
