Today I took my father out to the old fishing hole on this lake. I have been fishing this lake since I was about 7, so for about 30 years now. I made the trek up from Vancouver at 4 a.m. and then picked up my father. We were on the water around 7:15. There was one LUND aluminum boat with two guys and three people on shore with a small inflatable boat. We headed out to the fishing hole. I remember my first time fishing this lake with my father and his friend George.

My father got two of them within the first 30 minutes. Both were about 10-12 inches. Then I lost one right at the boat, it was about 12 inches and jumped and spit the hook. I felt like it was going to be one of those days.

Then I had another bite, and the fight was on. She took some line for a bit and finally was able to land her. A nice thick 19" rainbow. Within 5 minutes I had another one on, and this one was about the same size. Give or take a few quarters of an inch. After unwrapping it around the anchor line and getting the net on it. I thought wow, 2 nice size rainbows in one day.

Next hit was a take down. I saw my rod tip bounce and about 15 yards from the boat the fish jumped out of the water. No hook set was necessary on this one. A few minutes later I boated a nice 14" brown trout. We finished around 9:30 and I was able to limit out on 5 fish and my father had 2. Not a bad day fishing the old hole.

I am tempted to take the 2 hour trek next week for more. But if the Columbia is still open for fall kings, I might have to take a stab at some hogs!

Rip some lips!

hey that was me in the lund that morning. I don't know if you saw it but near that willow tree, on the south side, there was some sort of feeding frenzy going on. Couldn't tell if it were rainbows or some perch, maybe they were browns had no idea those were in there whatever it was they were going nuts. What a great lake, all types of species to fish for. we caught perch ,sunfish, rockbass, and trout. My buddy had never been to this lake, I think he will be visiting it more often it's closer to us than american with less people and skiers. we were using wedding rings and worms most of the day, however i did pick up the fly rod and chucked the wooly bugger and the rock bass just tore it up.

hope to see you again,
Jim
