Despite the fact that my family thought I was a fool, I was on the lake by 5 AM. After all, it was father's day. The skies were crystal clear and the sun was just starting to ignite the Western horizon. I was the only one on the water, (could my family be on to something?), and man was it peaceful. I started out trolling a chrome Super Duper close to the surface along the North shore and had several light nibbles, (there were a lot of little fingerling trout jumping, especially around the boat launch), but no fish. I switched over to a chartreuse Wedding Ring with a piece of worm and caught a nice 14" rainbow in the Southeast corner. I continued trolling mostly the South and East shores at various depths and had no more luck. It was about 9AM when I anchored and settled in to try some still fishing. I didn't have my line in the water for more than 5 minutes when the peace was shattered by the sounds of a ski boat. I figured the fishing would be all downhill from there, so I pulled up anchor and headed in. I was trolling a chartreuse Needlefish with a couple of split shots to get it a little deeper, when I hooked a 12" rainbow. I was tempted to stay out a little longer after that, but it was getting hot and the thought of trolling through 12 to 15 inch rolls from the ski boats didn't appeal to me. By the time I got the boat out of the water, the temp was already in the upper 70's.
