The preacher & I went to Fish Lake today and for the first time, I got to do some ice fishing. It was cold, but fun. My friend, Steve, preacher at the Cashmere church of Christ, loves to ice fish and has a lot of experience at it. He had the stuff it took (ice auger, small rods, worms & power bait), he picked me up around 9 am and we hit the ice at around 10 am. We fished until 4:30 or so and we both limited on trout and we also lander a few perch each. Steve caught the biggest at about 2lbs. and was around 14". We also caught a few bullheads. It was real foggy when we got there, but about 2 pm it cleared up and was beautiful. We fished just on the shallow end next to The Cove. I can't wait to go again! The pics are Steve with his big one and the other is of my catch.

Thanks, I forgot to mention the ice was about 6" where we were, but a couple other guys said the ice was over 12" thick toward the other end of the lake. I'm not sure how that can be, but as I mentioned, I'm new at this ice thing.

head to banks lake at coulee city for perch and walleye, very thick ice but cold.also seep lakes near potholes has some ice fishing.i talked to some russian guys on banks and they said they could see the walleye thru the holes swimming around.they set up a dome tent and propane heater for shelter and fished inside the tent.looked like a good idea to stay warm, wind chill can be brutal!good luck and be safe on the ice!
