I went to Rock lake on Sunday with my brother. Got there about 7am and there was at least a dozen trucks/trailers in the parking lot. Launching was a snap with the water so high. We threw Rapalas all day(noonish) and managed to win the tug-of-war with about 20 fish. Re used crawdad and fire tiger patterns with the latter being more effective. Ee caught a mix of browns and bows between 12"- 18", and kept a handful for the table.

Forgot to get pics of fish, it was either cast or take pics and casting won. The day was soggy and windy, but we still had a great time out of the house. Not having a windshield on my boat, only one word can describe the boat ride back to the launch. NUMB

Bad weather on Rock can mean the better days, but don't risk you life for a few fish...............................unless you are with me and I do it all the time. :-( Great report, I assume with the colors you reported that the water is pretty off colored??????

only fished the first couple miles of shore line from the launch and the water was stained. in the past after the run off and the lake is clear again we have done very well with a broke back rapala in crawdad.
i don't let the weather stop me from getting out very often, it takes rollers to stop me from trying to fish and only because it is too tough to control the boat.

I did not know they made jointed rapallas that sink or countdown? Or is it that you put some kind of weight with it? I have been fishing this lake a little bit this winter and it is growing on me. I can not go too far in my small boat but still like it there. Anyhow, be safe out there.

those rapalas only dive to about 5 feet. if you are looking to go deeper i would recommend a lipless crankbait for casting and retrieving. there are only 2 lakes that i cast to shore and retrieve like i am bass fishing when i go after trout. rock and rufus woods.
