I picked up my son from his mothers (her weekend) and he was telling me they fished that lake last night and pulled in 1 small trout using orange powerbait off the dock..Luckily, I had my gear in the truck and decided to wet our lines..Not sure of the water temp, but it was very chilly, slightly windy and occasional sprinkles. I saw 1 boat trolling around and no one else fishing..I was using my 9'6 steelhead rod and my son was using my 8'6 Okuma. He was tossing around some spoons meant for steelies and I was using float meant for jigs, put on a size 12 hook and worm set to about 8 ft deep. Not more than 5 minutes, takedown! After a brief battle, I landed a small 8 inch trout. I released it to grow back. Of course my son grew bored tossing the spoon so he wanted to try my set up..He was screwing around on the dock and didn't notice his bobber slowly being pulled under. Too late and too bad. We stayed for about 10 more minutes and decided to call it a day..I look forward to fishing this lake quite a bit since his mother lives here now- if anyone has some good info on this lake please let me know!!

I guess I don't understand why Lawrence is open year 'round. It isn't listed in the regs under Westside Lakes - Special Rules (pg 70) . . . so it seems like it would be covered under statewide regular season closures . . ie lowland lakes which open in April. I don't doubt it's open, I just want to understand why. i'm going to take the issue to the forum and get some help . . hopefully jens will add his comments there.

Fish Antics what you are looking at is the special rules. If you don't find a lake in it then state wide rules apply. These lrules re on page 36 in the paper regulations. Look under the middle column at the top of the page "areas/seasons" then 2nd paragraph "Unlisted areas fall under statewide rules." Then go down to the 5th paragraph about lakes. That is where Lawrence Lake falls under.
Yes, it is very confusing.

Not sure if you are still fishing this lake. But I have pulled in quite a few pigs off of worm and marshmallow. Just a normal small white marshmallow. About 4-6 feet of leader and cast out about 50-70 feet out from coat launch. Or the trail to the right.
