Checked out Roses, it's ice free and shore lined with fishermen. Cast for 15-20 minutes from shore with silver/blue Kastmaster, and firetiger Krocodile. Caught several and got more hits. 10-11 inch fat and feisty RB plants. Turned them back to swim another day. The bait fishermen were catching fish, and even though it wasn't Hot fishing it seemed to be consistent along the shoreline. Overcast, breezy, and lower 50s

Hey blufin loui,
Thanks for the Roses report. I might make it by there sometime this next weekend.
Did you receive your flies yet?

were people only fishing for trout? I was wondering if the perch or crappie fishing was any good too

BigD, If ya hit roses, post what you see on the depthfinder. We hope to get the boat out on her and look for schooled crappie in near future. YES the Flies have landed, and waiting to be flung. Have hopes to hit RW today or weekend. The flies have a unique liik to them once I got a look at them up close. I hope to use them at RW, and will post a report if I do.
Thanks , Man

Hello Jordan,
All the persons I saw were fishing for trout. I'm sure the water is still cool enough for the crappie to be in their deeper water haunts still. The shore fishing is limited to a few spots where a path has been beaten through the toulees, and around the launch site. On the opposite side of lake from the boat launch there are a few places where a person can hike "Down' to the lake and find one or two spots to cast. We've never fished for perch in the cooler water temps at Roses, so can't offer any info there.
Good luck with your fishing adventures.
