5/10/2009 9:29:00 PMHey Louis. Yes tight lines and lately slow reflexes haha. I was trying to get a good picture of a Osprey but every time it got close enough for a good shot I would get a bite lol. Oh well was a lot of fun and a couple trips ago up there we had one of the Osprey pair nap a dead fish almost in front of us.

5/11/2009 1:08:00 AMIs the DNR camping area still open? I haven't fished Leader for about 10 years it was always one of my fav. lakes to fish. Used to be some awesome fishing there, but like so many lakes in E.WA got mixed up with some bass and junk fish and the fishing went south. I caught one just over 8 lbs and had one I know was way over 10 long ago. Big ones always get away! Thanks for the report I'll have to get over that way and check it out.

5/11/2009 1:49:00 AMFish On! yes the DNR campground is still there and pretty much same as it has been for years. There are bass bluefill and crappie in Leader now but its ok because later in summer when the water warms it has always thrown off the trout bite. I am not sure how well the spiny rays did over winter as we haven't seen any cruising the shoreline yet this year. But on the trout front. They plant no fingerlings now because of the bass etc so all the trout are 10-12 inches when planted and this year they threw in some 1.5 pound triploids too. So maybe those bigger fish will push the bass and such to the shallows where they belong.
