My buddy and I went out last night and caught one and decided to come back this morning before class. We're both WWU students. We hit the lake about 7. We tried a spot on shore off to the left of the little house looking thing on the East entrance. The older guy on to our left caught two in the time that we were there. But it was really slow for him. We got skunked. We tried with bobber and worm because we didn't have much luck from the bottom the day before and nothing happened there, so we switched back to our rigs from the day before after the older guy caught his first off of green power bait. We tried power bait and eggs of every color, we tried Pautzke's Ball of Fire, we tried Gulp, we tried Power Worms and no takers for anything. Around 9:15 we had to head off to class. Throughout our time there we consistently saw fish jumping out towards the center of the lake. If I had to guess I'd say that most of the fish that were inclined to hang out close to shore have already been hit pretty hard since opening day. I'm sure there's still at least 19,000 trout in there given that WDFW put in 17,000 just this year. I imagine next week more fish will take to being closer to shore and the bite will come back on. They're in there, it's just getting to them that seemed tough these last two days. So I hope all of you have better luck than we have.

Could be the yakkers and canoeists thrashing around the lake 20 feet offshore like they're on a friggin racetrack, herding the fish to the middle. Some of those aluminum canoes sound like a danged Chinese New Year parade going by.
