Well I started out the day going shopping and getting a new cheapo pole for my grandson. While I was shopping I found some wooly buggers. So many people on here mention catching fish using them so I figured I would buy a couple and give them a try. WOW.

Hitting the lake at 1:00 and seeing people leaving with very little or nothing was not encouraging. We trolled from the launch to the south end using wedding ring/ worm set ups and got exactly nothing. Figured it was time to try the bugger. One single lead shot weight, about 5 feet of leader and a black bugger with little silver tinsel thingys. 90 seconds. Pulled out a 12 inch kokanee. Figured it was a bit of beginners luck. About 10 mins later pulled out my first trout. it was a nice 18 inch cut. Sweet. Love this little bug thingy. Just don't tell everyone cause these will be banned for working too well...

In the late afternoon fish stopped biting and I switched back to wedding ring/worm. caught a 20+ incher that we lost when the hook got tangled in the net. It shot out and away before we got the net out of the water. Always the biggies I lose. Still a great day on the water. My father in law got a coulpe of bites but nothing in the boat. I would have limited out with the big one that got away... 1 kok, 3 cutts. and a bit too much sun, but thats still ok with me.

The water temp was at about 59 degrees and all fish were taken in the south end of the lake, beyond even the tiny island. Troll shallow and way back behind the boat.

Good luck on the water everyone. See ya out there tomorrow.
