Fished campbell the morning of the 26. 2nd boat on the water at 7:00 am. Still fished numerous areas and trolled the entire lake and nothing. Rained in the morning pretty good and cleared up when we left at around 2:00 pm. Does anyone have any tips for this lake? They will be much appreciated. All in all it was good to be out fishing, but using a half tank off gas for not even a bite really sucked... I hope someone can throw me some pointers on this awesome lake.

Thanks,

cambell lake is pretty worthless for fishing if you ask me. the only time i have caught trout in their is right after they dump the triploids in. the lake is extremely shallow so the water gets super muddy and about 70 in the summer. these shallow lakes on fidalgo island are best fished early spring. I would recomend trolling fly gear at pass lake. or going to erie lake really early in the morning.

thanks for the reply. so it was a waste of gas huh... oh well. ive heard nothing about good things and big fish out of there since no one hardly fishes it. ive never been to pass or erie. are they electric motor only lakes? is it heavily fished? thanks again for the reply back..

erie is pretty heavily fished but it would be a good bet because they dumped 12000 trout in their this spring and it receives less fishing pressure than the more accessible heart lake. I'm pretty sure you can use combustion engines in ERIE.

pass lake is a great lake but it is fly fishing only and catch and release only, also you cannot use motors of any kind. The most productive way to fish it is to troll sinking flyline at a pretty fast speed.

I happen to have a lot of luck in cambell. I half not fished it much this year but I will. I fished all year long last year and always cought someting and good size.I use homeade spoons of watermelon/rainbow color. It looks like a dicknite/needlefish.I also have a friend that uses weddingring tipped with a night crawler and has luck sometimes.I have never tried it. Not my cup of tee. Heard Floatin rapalas work pretty Well dont know what colors But a would try Rainbow,Oarnge My piticular favs of this lure. One big thing I notice when I am catching fish an others arent They troll by me like iam standing still.WAY to fast .I troll at 1.2 1.4mph For the triploids. If i am going for cutthroat Wich there is alot of them in there I troll big plugs any where between 1.6 2.0 mph. I would hope people dont loose itrest in this lake. It has a excellent fishirie for Fish not bait like erie. I have fished erie ALOT up till last year when I discoved Cambell had GREAT fishing. If you are taking a young one fishing Erie is the only way to go.

thanks for the info t roller, i really appreciate it. i will definitely give that a try. i don t have a a speed sensor on my boat but i have a 15 ft smoker and only a 30lbs trust minn kota on the back. i troll at the #1 setting. im assuming its around the right setting cause like you, i had other boats flying past me... oh yeah, when you say big plus for the cutts, what do you suggest? and do you troll a little faster?. i hope to make it back up there sometime this next week. i just wished i lived closer to it. a half tank of gas is not that cheap for me right now. well thanks again for the info and hope to hear back with more info.
