Well, I saw Houdini today in American lake. The first fish we pulled in was about a 12 inch rainbow, which we put on a stringer. 15 minutes later pulling another fish in, we were surprised to find the stringer unlatched and the fish swimming along side the boat in the shade, until we tried to catch it again, at which time it went under the boat and swam away....

Fortunately, there were plenty of fish biting today. All in the top 15 feet of water and almost all up at the north end of the lake. We lost almost as many right along side the boat as we got in the boat, but still limited out and had a great time. Water temp was at about 72 degrees and there was alot of wind chop and boat turbulence until about 5 pm or so, then things quieted down and we started getting the most activity. There were way too many speed boats that ignore the 5 mph buoys and seem to just not care about boating laws. makes it harder to target shallow fish, but still a good day all in all....

Wow? 72 degree water 15 feet down? Went for a swim 2 days ago and it was way colder! How deep were you trolling the rings? Most of the ones I've caught are pretty skinny stockers too. Fish are hungry and sun bringing them topside. Early AM and 2 hours before dusk have been limit times for me. Haven't tried new boat launch yet, but maybe this weekend? Check out my post on clowns that don't observe "no wake" zones, haha! Registration decals on the sides of boats/PWC's are easy to call in...

After my last day on American, I've almost sworn off that lake all together, even though I live right next to it.... There are so many boaters/jetskiers that purposely buzz fishing boats, even in the south end back in that bay that is all 5mph/no wake. I just cant understand the mentality!

Beware!!!!!!!! of the new launch went there during memorial weekend and the pay booth was out of service when we came back to see if it was working it was and paid the launch fee went to my truck and had a 500 dollar ticket !!!!!!!!!with a note from other people who received a ticket also, because the ticket booth was not working and said they had tried to explain it to the officer who was handing out tickets and he would not understand any reason to the received (I guess they have to pay for the new launch somehow)
