i went to fenwick this morning after dropping my daughter off at school to try for some trout but no luck.. i was standing near the edge of the lake and looked into the water and happend to see a few nice size bass patroling a submerged log so i ran back up to my van and got my bass gear and counting on the aggressive nature of them guarding the nest i tossed around a few plugs with no luck, switched to topwater with a zara puppy had one rise to the bait on the pause, but turned around so then i switched to a drop shot 5" zero worm snagged up lost it... then just a wacky rigged white zero worm and 4th cast i pissed one off enough to eat my bait after a couple jumps it threw my barbless 2/0 red hook so i casted out some more but had no more follows. so switched the rig to a weightless texas rig and started fishing it like a jerk bait a few cast later FISH ON!! jump, jump, jump, head shake and into shore for the lip grab 4.1 lbs on the rapala digital scale.. sorry no pictures, no camera phone no camera.. that fish was caught and released to go back and guard those babys

ah i knew this lake would have potential. I've tried to lake out many times with no success but knew there had to be a big bass in there somewhere. Looks like I'll be heading over to Fenwick this weekend!

Man, this lake sucks! No offense on the rating, but was it really a 5 star rating trip?

its all good topdawg the reason i rated it a 5 was because i don't usually have very good success there.. but i've been fishing it for about 18 years have alot of good memories there as a kid. its a great lake to just get away from all the combat fishing other lakes have and it does pay off if you put the time in.. tight lines

Thanks for releasing that fish. Last time I fished the lake, a dude ran up to me with his cell phone cam, and showed me a pic of about a 4.5 lber he caught a day prior. I asked him if he released it, turned out he gave it away to someone. I taught him pretty quick how catch and release works, and he said he'd release them from now on, and I actually believe him. Good job again !

Nice report!! I like the way that you took your time and figured out what the fished wanted and thanks for releasing the fish.

Hey TOP, you know the ratings are all subjective. Chris caught a nice fish in a lake he's been going to for a long time and released it. He feels really good about his day so he gives it a 5 star rating. That's the way it should be. Chill man. It's all good.
