I was on "Hawaii time" this morning, which means, I'll get there when I get there. LOL- TommyTitan08 was patiently waiting for me to get ready, as any of you boat owners know, it isn't just a simple hook the boat and go. There is a lot of work and organizing and making sure you have everything needed for a trip. Had to stop at the store, gas, enough snacks/drink..not to mention the road work being done on Yelm Hwy all contributed to me being late. I finally arrived at the launch, Tommy loaded his gear and we were off. Side note, do not try and pick your fishing buddy at the resort dock, that is a no no.We decided to anchor left of the launch in front of some lilly's. I started off with a floating rapala and caught 3 small crappie within minutes. Tommy and I had a side bet for .50 per biggest species, so I purposely positioned the boat so he was casting directly into the wind. Hey, I am competitive. I was chuckling to myself everytime Tommy was making a cast it would go about a foot!! I like to have several rods geared up, so when I wasn't getting any rises, I quickly switched to small white jig/bobber set to 4ft deep. Fish on. The fishing was sporadic, and due to the heavy winds, we decided to call it a day. There were a lot of boats out, but not too many fish being caught, I'd have to say, we fared better than most. We did try for some channel cats, but nothing. The algae right of the launch was pretty thick. Overall fishing for crappie was fun with a good friend, but the wind was no pun intended, crappy.
