Fish On! and its about time. I dont know what the deal has been, but me and LowVW have just been getting absolutely skunked lately.

Launched from Magnuson around 4:00, and headed north. We started trolling cranks in depths of 17-23 feet. Eventually we stopped at a small cove just before the NOAH station and threw some senkos. Nothing in this area. We reversed course and headed south back past the launch. We trolled all the way to Windemere park and still had no takers. At this point it is almost 7, so we jumped across the water to the kirkland side. After one pass, I felt a light nibble and set the hook. I knew it was a small fish, but did not expect a 4-5 inch perch. Somehow that little guy got the whole treble hook in its mouth.

Down and back some more and LowVW gets into our first smallie. This one around 2lb. Next I got one, and it was around the same size. On another pass we started catching our cranks in the weedline, so when I felt a strong tug, I thought I was hung up. This turned out to be a strong 4lb 0oz SMB on the scale. Great fight. After a few more passes I got one more 3 pounder and Low lost a decent fish when it spit the crank.

It felt good to land some fish. I was starting to think I was the most unlucky fishermen in the world.

No dude, with a report like that, I am still the unluckiest and obviously unskilled(est) fisherman out there. Always tomorrow I guess. Nice fish and if trolling works...OK!

What color cranks were you using? Washington has kicked my but lately.

Color doesnt seem to matter, we have caught them on perch, bluegill, crawdad, trout patterns, baby bass. As long is you can get 20+ ft deep your ok. With a 12' boat and a small motor we cant run around the lake too much so trolling lets us cover as much water as possible with only a few hours to fish, plus with the rollers/pleasure boat wakes on that side of the lake it make fishing slow impossible for us.

The crank type we use is called "Hot Lips" and as lowvw said, the baby bass, bluegill, and perch colors all work really well.

Cool the hot lips are the ones I just bought a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for the info.
