14 fish today, 10 rainbows and 4 cutties, all 16-19" except for one little guy, while fishing damsel and stillwater nymphs vertically with a type VI sink line. All fish strong and healthy and fought well for July. I fished in 24-25 ' of water immediately across from the launch. Surface water temp at 72 and winds from the SW at about 5 MPH. Started at 10:30 and got a couple rainbows early but things really started when damsels began coming off at 12:00 or so. This hatch lasted until 2:00 and provided for consistent action. The fish initially stayed deep and I had to keep my pattern within a foot or two of the bottom. Eventually they suspended at 18-19' feet at which time another gentlemen, Duane, joined me. He hung his damsel pattern at 18', began getting solid takes and was snapped off by 4-5 consecutive fish before realizing that his tippet material was bad...bummer! He had several other takes which he missed. We talked for a couple hours and come to find out he'd seen my partners and I hammering them before with this "dangling" technique, but never gave it a real try until today. Despite his troubles he gained some valuable experience and confidence and will try it again. It's definitely the way to go when the water warms and the fish stay deep!
