Camped and fished out of 25 mile creek from Friday through Sunday. Friday afternoon was beautiful, got my kayak out on the water around 2:30 and trolled for about 2 hours with the downrigger. Lot of work, and when I pulled my line in, found that the new swivels I picked up from Cabella's didn't work at all... My line was snapped - seems I trolled for most of that time with nothing on my line, which explains why I didn't get any hits from everything I saw on my depthfinder.

Saturday was a total wash. The 25 mile creek area was very very choppy. So choppy that the waves were coming over the marina wall. We drove in to Chelan to sight see and toss a line into the river at the park, and on the way there I found that the entire lower end of the lake was glassy and beautiful - furthering my frustration.

Sunday morning I woke up to calm winds and hit the water. Got to the north shore of the lake and the winds picked up again! Spent the next 90 minutes paddling back through hard winds and waves that were constantly coming over my deck. Good workout, but not good fishing weather. Pulling a downrigger through that kind of wind is near impossible.

The only fish I caught the whole weekend was a 10" rainbow trout from the dock Saturday night. Girlfriend caught a 12" LMB at riverwalk park (didn't even know they had LMB in Chelan) Fish gave a great fight. Saturday evening she caught a skuawfish (northern pikeminnow) from the 25 mile creek dock. Didn't know they had those annoying fish either.

Fortunately the weather was sunny and warm all weekend, and we at least enjoyed some good camping.

Forgot to mention, 25 mile creek had BOUT 20 Kokanee spawning near our campsite. Not sure if they go very far up the little creek, but they were definitely spawning in the campground area. Really pretty red color to them.
