There have been some who get tired of seeing my reports on the Rufus every week, but it is where we fish, and if the reports help anyone who may fish it, I will be happy to keep posting. Some would say I change lures too often, but I enjoy mixing it up, and sometimes it pays off in finding a pattern that will work for that time slot. Rufus Woods Trout are Easy to catch by some person's standards, but I find them enough of a challenge to keep going back. AND they make exccellent smoked fillets. :o}

On your suggestion "One thing, on the pics you take, try filling the frame with you or your wife in the background and the fish in the foreground (not shoved an arm's length towards the camera) simply in the foreground, and with its body FILLING the frame', I appreciate the tip, But if you will look closely at the pics we have posted (past and present) you will notice "Bent elbos". One thing we have tried to keep from doing is the Bass fishermens stance of Long Armed Photography. (no slam bass guys). In the pic of my fish you will notice it is a closer shot than most of our pics, I wanted to show the B-2 Squid hanging on the fishes lip, it is a close-up, not just shoving the fish out to the camera. , AND Both of my ELBOs are bent, not at arm's length. Note the position of the right arm. Put your arm at shoulder height, out to the side and bend the elbo forward. Where does that put your hand, Pretty much even with the front of your body. Also, The beautiful backdrops of the area are included in the pics because to us they are the trip, and the catch is a bonus feature. Don't get me wrong, we do enjoy the fight of the fish, and the taste of the meal. . One thing of note, Both me and Cindy are not small bodied people. Can't divulge a Lady's weight, but let's just say both our weights combined would max out a small boat's carrying capacity. LOL We endeavor to post realistic renditions of the fish we catch, not long-arm posing, but maybe there will be times when it looks otherwise, rest assured we would not long arm the guys intentionally, because they are nice fish in their own rights without any of that kind of help. Everyone Please take this reply as an explanation and not as a slam to anyone, That is not the intention. Thanks again Larry for your comment, and for bringing the fine points of photography to mention. We are less than amateurs in the photography field, but we do shoot lots of frames. You and yours stay well, and have a great and safe holiday season.

Hey Big Smooth, hope you and the gang get to do battle with the Tripps soon. With the cold temps, hence cooler water, they should be getting more aggressive. Look forward to your future reports. Sure hope you can make the trip over here SalmonKing. Let me know what weekdays you would be looking at. If ya come over, I sure hope your nights are better than last years. Hey Touchet2, we found moving back and forth between where you and I were fishing, and drifting back with the current was triggering some hits. Just use the bow mount at the needed speed to slowly manuver around. I was using 6# line and 1/8oz jighead with the Rootbeer B-2. Casting across the current, slight jigging motion on the swing, then letting it hang in the current behind the boat for a bit. While behind the boat, I would twitch/jig the rod tip, hopefully creating more of a quiver than a actual jigging motion. I have hopes of going out either sat or sun, will have to wait and see if things come together. Be sure to stay safe and hydrated while out.

I spent too many years photographing fish for clients, and probably have lost touch with the stuff that really matters, like place and people. 12/9/2009 10:10:00 PMHowdy lakestevens Most of my fishing on RW has been from the boat. I have fished the shoreline on the douglas county side above the Chief Joe dam up to the corps boat launch. There are several places with good access, and a lot of nice fish have been caught in these areas. Just below the boat launch is an improved area that has some fire rings and tables. When running up river, I've noticed folks fishing from the shore at many locations up to the Brant's landing area (approx 6miles upriver), and the Brant's landing area is a prime winter time destination for shore anglers. I was using Kastmasters and spinners when I was fishing from the shore and have caught several fish, but seems the most and larger fish are caught by bait fishermen from the shore. There are many on the forum with experience in the shore fishing techniques. If you would post the question in the "Fresh Water fishing" section of the community forum, I bet you would get some useful information. Also, the link below will take you to some dirrections to the net pens area for shore fishing. Sorry I don't have much useful info for you, but there are those on the forum who does, so maybe they will chim in.
