Finally made it out to fish on some of that hard water which I love so much. Only had a few hours to fish, ended up forgetting the auger in the garage because i was in such a hurry and so excited to get out to the lake. Fished about 200 yard out in some open holes infront of the public launch. Talked to a fellow out there who wasnt having much luck. I ended up catching a small pumpkinseed and a decent sized perch before i realized it was Thursday and I had forgotten to submit my weekly football picks! So fished for 40 minutes or so and only had 2 bites hooked up both times. Plenty of ice on the lake with about 2 inches of slush and water on top of it.

Nice report. Just picked up some gear yesterday, but gotta go get a new hand auger. The one I bought, Strikemaster Lazer 8" made in China, does not appear to be a good one to get. Let me know if you'd ever like a partner out on the ice, although I confess it'll be my first time out.

I haven't gotten confirmation from fish and game whether or not they planted Hatch this year. They killed Hatch off last year and left it barren for last winter's fishery. The planting "plan" only indicated 850 fish designated for Hatch, the planting "report" showed no fish were put in Hatch. Maybe they put fry in that were too small to qualify to be on the report, less than 1/10 pound each. Guess it's time to make a phone call! Anyone have some info?
