Well finally got to fish with the famous or infamous blufin loui. I tell you what he not only is a great fisherman but on great guy too.

We got on the water a sometime after 8am and was a cold morning, Launched at the Corp launch. Then ran to first set of pens. Water was moving some and water temp was near to just above 40F.

He had me try his B-2 squid jig and the fishing was going good but the catching and biting where a bit slow.

After noon it all picked up and we ended the day with 2 that are in the 6 pound range and two pushing 10.

We even outfished a guide, which honestly felt great LOL.

Lewis it was great seeing you again and thank you for taking me up there. I had more fun fishing and catching than I have in a long time.

Good lookin fish, even the ones with whole tails! Louis, you can't seem to miss. Does he ever have an "off" day? I hope I get to fish with the master someday!

Was a great day on the water and I did not mention he lost two others that where nice of which one would have been the biggest of the day .I am sure it was over 12 pounds. He had more hook ups than I did.
He teaches in an easy tone and made it easy to learn how he did it. As you can see it paid off.
I wish all the fish I caught there had full tails it makes such a difference in the fight.

Thanks for the report & photos. I just signed a petition to change the name of Lake Rufus Woods too Blufin loui reservoir. He's been a great help to many RW fishermen (Me included) & women. He is always a gentleman and it has been a pleasure to get to know him through WL.com

AND NOW, THE REST OF THE STORY. LOL * Hey MalottGuy, Your camera sure takes good pics, can't wait to see the rest.
It was a cooold and overcast morning. And the fish did not bite for us until noonish or after, not even a single hit. The Malottguy was a trooper as cast after cast, after cast, and jig and jig until his arms almost fell off, and still no complaints. I had to keep reassuring him that yes, we really do catch fish this way. We did also cast some spinners and crocs, but to no avail. Then back to the jig. One thing the "Modest" (not) Malottguy left out of the report is both 10 pounders were his. Mine weighed in around six pounds, both of the sixes could have been twins. Anyway, Malotguy jiged well, and fought the fish well. The one with the full tail made several clutch screaming runs before he was netted. There was a boat that anchored up close to where we were fishing (using bait), and I think we put on a good show for them before they pulled anchor and left. On the way out we saw Two Bald eagles sitting on a cross arm of a power pole, and all around the pole were mule deer browsing. A great site to see. All in All it was a hard day on the water, and I was getting worried since we couldn't get a bite. But thanks Malottguy for not giving up and tossing me in the river.
Good fishing all, and stay safe out there.

BigD wrote "I just signed a petition to change the name of Lake Rufus Woods too Blufin loui reservoir. " When I shared this with Cindy she said "YOU'RE Gonna have to start fishing different waters, I think we fish there too often". But thanks for the kind words anyway. Rufus Woods is a therapeutic fishing hole for us, even when the fish don't bite, so I guess we'll keep going.

I will sign that petition also LOL. Yes was cold and honestly If blufin hadn't had great netting skills I could have easily lost those fish. I agree even when I am bait fishing off the lower end and not catching it is a restful spot to get away we truly have a gem in that lake. If I am fishing I rarely complain and I knew it was just a matter of time before they would start biting. We seen so many surfacing and more on the fishfinder I knew we would get our limits.
