I had an extended workweek, and We had plans to fish Wapato on Sunday (today) but woke up to a good rain shower, so it was another cup of coffee and read as the rain drops fell during the morning. As noon came and went the sky was getting lighter in the west, so Cindy and I hooked up the boat and made a "short" run to Roses instead of going to our planned Wapato. Since the weather was less than optimal, we chose Roses cause we felt our chances would be better. Got on the water around 2:00, and fished until 5:30 or so. The water was stained with a surface temp of 65-66*. Scattered bites along the shoreline and out to about 8 feet of water. Mostly small 4-6 inch bluegill with a small crappie thrown in. I hooked up a B-2 squid weedless and tossed to the toulees to pick up a couple of LMB with the largest maybe going 1 1/2 pounds, and Cindy later caught a LMB of about the same size. Picked up several dinks using 1/16 oz jigheads and dark colored grubs. On the south end the female bluegills were holding in about 4-6 feet of water and were plump with eggs. Those we C&Rd, but kept some smaller males and a few bull gills. Cindy got to do battle with one of the Channel cats on her feather-lite rod and 4 pound test line. After quite a battle she boated a 7# 10 oz catfish. I filleted a dozen or so bluegill/crappie mix with the largest crappie going 10 inches or so, and the bluegills 8-9 inches. A good way to end a rainy day. Today the jig under a bobber was the most effective presentation. Have a good week all.

Well you did what I tried to do this weekend with the BG's, good on you, and that catfish was bonus, I know how they feel on a light Crappie get up, probably no better challenge in this state. Kudos to your fishing partner!

Sweet cat Louie. Wouldn't mind one of those myself.

Hey Lewis, Cindy certainly keeps you trying to keep up. Doesn't she. Wow!
I was able to get on the water at both Roses & Dry today. We'll hit Roses again tomorrow & report after that. Andy

I didn't know there were channel cats in there. Yet another reason for me to try it LOL. Great report Lewis and hope you are both doing great.

Thanks guys for the comments. BMGW, with the unsettled weather the bite was slower than expected, but still pretty active. That's cat # 4 for Cindy on the featherlite rig while fishing for panfish. They sure do stretch the line.TODDY18, if I ever get my fill of the panfish, I may try targeting the cats. there seems to be some big ones in there. Well AFK, after several decades of fishing with her, I don't feel as competative as I used to. I just let her catch the biggest and the most. It works out that way anyhow. LOL. MALOTTGUY, come on over sometime. I don't kow if you'd hook into one of the cats, but lots of action on the smaller species available

How much shore access is there?

Hey MalottGuy, shore access is the difficulty on Roses. There are several spots at the parking/launch area, but they fill up fast.
