Great evening at Silver Lake. I caught my first 5 pounder, and my fishing partner caught a 2, 2 1/2 and 3 pounder. Water temp at 68 degrees.

Talked to Fish and Wild Life at the ramp. They where doing fish studies, and got a 10 pound walleye during their studies (an illegal implant). They also got lots of perch which is also not supposed to be in the lake. The perch is taking away from the crappie and the crappie arent getting up to size. Due to this F & W may pull the 9" restriction for Crappie.

Please do not dump fish from other lakes into other lakes. Like everything else, the ecosystem for fish can be fragile, and by dumping other fish, it can ruin a species of that lake.

Once again all fish were released unharmed.

I agree. Dumping fish into a lake illegaly is no bueno. That said, the sky isnt falling. There are many examples in WA where many warmwater predator fish live harmoniously, and in abundance. You also have to admit the irony when you are proudly holding an introduced species. lol.

Seems strange that people would want to do that. There are plenty of lakes made specifically for the fish that they have in them.

I have fished Silver for the last 3 years perch have always been there, the walleye wont hurt much the lake is a stocked with Musky.
Seems every lake that has Bass, has Perch , Crappie and Bluegill.

I sincerely enjoy the perch fishery there at Silver in the winter. Ice fishing wouldn't be the same without them. If there truly is walleye - I'd be ecstatic, although I doubt they'll breed well there. That 10lb'er is probably one of a few solo implants just growing big on their own (like triploids or tiger trout) without hopes of ever reproducing. Still haven't ever caught crappie, but had a really enjoyable time catching bluegills on the fly - guess they're spawning right now.

Perch have been in the lake for years. They are fun to catch and taste good year around(even summer time). As for Crappie, fishing it last year every 2nd or 3rd was a keeper for me.
