After having lunch and a rest, we headed over to Wapato to check out the Spiny Rays. We thought to hit wapato instead of Roses because we thought Wapato would have less big boat traffic. WRONG!! There was 5-6 boats sking, tubing, and wake boarding, plus several jet skies, some of which were trying to pull skiers. On a lake of this size it was Busy. So needless to say the wave action was active. The east shoreline was murky from all the wave action, and we didn't get very many bites on that side. We did pick up a few perch in 20 feet or so depths, but decided to move to the west shoreline. the water is deeper there and we did catch some scattered fish. Once again the fish were in 8-25 feet of water and close to the bottom. We caught several Bluegills in the 7-9 inch range that were still full of eggs, back they went. and kept a couple nice bluegills. Caught several crappie and kept a few from 9 1/2 - 12 7/8 inches. The yellow perch were scattered but we did keep a nice mess to go along with the crappie and blue gills. The perch were running 8-10 1/2 inches, so were plenty big enough for us. We used 1/16 oz jig heads with a berkly nymph tipped with a crappie nible to work the deeper water. We used a 1/80 oz jig with a "Tiny Tube" tipped with a 1 inch berckley black leech. These little guys were killers. Had to be super patient for them to sink to the strike zone, but when they did, there would be some kind of fish yanking on them. Not many fishermen out, but other than the constant wave jumping it was a great day on the water. 75* with a water temp of 68-69*. Perfect weather for fishing.

Looking good Loui! Now that all of our summer "non-fishing" weekend commitments are out of the way, maybe we'll get time to post some reports and pics of nice panfish stringers too! Thanks for all your great posts. Our best to both of you! :-)

Hey ya Phil, cant't wait to see some more reports from ya, and I'm glad you two survived the obligations. We have thought of traveling east to hit some of the panfish lakes, but just don't seem to get over that way.

Hey MotoBoat, when we pass by the casino parking lot and see all those $100,000.00 Motor Homes lined up on the asphalt, and have been there for a week or so, I just Smile and am Thankful I have a different view on how to spend a vacation. Gotta love fishing. LOL

Howdy knotabassturd, that one is the largest for me in WA state (now Oklahoma is a different story). We tried to stretch it, but it was just shy of 13 inches. It was a beautifull fish .
