Ever had one of those days where there's always something you forget? I walk about 100 yards to my favorite spot . with two poles and chair tackle box gear bag, landing net and drink. Scratch that, forgot the net, but i need it to land a carp and i'm wearing my good shoes!!! walk back get the net, set off again. Man i forgot to change my shoes. Screw the shoes. I'm fishing.

Guess tuesday is marathon swiming and kayak practice with motor boat coach 50 yards from shore in front of me. Sigh.... So no carp today, however the sweet corn got the attention of some nice Crappie with hugh glossy black eyes. They are like mini bucket mouths, Taking 4 kernels of corn in one bite. And they prefer to chase it on the retrieve i guess. Seattle is so funny, a lady asked if i was letting them go, and waited for me to unhook the fish and toss it back just to make sure i didn't pocket it or something. I either caught two nice crappie or the same one twice. i'm not sure. Then i was joined by some random vietnamese UW students hanging out and very curious if i'd catch something with all the noise.

A fun day catching the wrong fish. This weather and the long daylight can't be beat.

LOL. I have caught trout at Green Lake with spectators excitedly chanting, "SALMON, SALMON!".

Hahaha, yea, you always get people watching you at Green Lake. "There's actually fish in here?" they ask. I've caught carp around the motor boat people before though, but Green Lake carp are more finicky than some. Great report!

Great report - I have had the questions and looks too. I have never heard of Crappie being in that lake, are you sure they were'nt rock bass?

I pulled one small (9 in) trout last week by the lilly pads on the bath house theatre side. But otherwise no, I presume they are out there in some quantity, but hating the warm water. The lack of hawks and eagles fishing is a big clue to me that the easy fish are gone. Meanwhile, i landed another carp tonight by the paddle boats rental area. It is tricky around the dock area, too easy to get caught up on a piling. Gave it away to a guy i met who helped net the approx 8 pounder. And if that's as close as i'm going to get to fishing for big sport fish, i'll take it.
