This report is actally for the whole weekend. Got to the potholes friday afternoon pulled spinners and cranks for 2 hours no bites around goose island. Moved to the dam to pitch jigs for bass lots of little bass to 12 in. Moved to crab creek and pulled cranks no luck . Day 2 Started fishing 6am pulled cranks face of dam only a few smallmouth jigged lnd coulee only bass and lots of them. Pulled crankbaits on goose Island for 3hrs covering depths of 10 to 25 ft only one smalmouth. Back to pitching jigs for bass atleast catching fish. Drowned worms in lind coulee caught bass, catfish, and perch. Day 3 pulled crank baits by powerlines and medicare beach , went to mouth of crab creek to pull spinners finally caught a 13 in walleye was beginning to think they didn't exsist, next fish a 9# walleye, after that could only find bllheads But that fish made the trip. Was a real thrill for my girlfriend to catch. In all we fished for 25 hrs so the walleye bite is really slow. Anybody have any suggestions? water temp 70 degrees

Suggestion??? I think I'd keep the girlfriend if she can pull in a 9# wally! That's a very nice fish for that water. You can also down size your presentation...not so many beads, maybe go to 1 float, and a 1/2 worm. Thanks for the report.

very nice fish!! This time of year its all about oxygen and PH. As water temps go up, oxygen levels decline. Look for cooler water which is deeper water where oxygen levels are better. Walleye have a low tolerance for higher PH levels too. The sun and warmer waters, and 70 degrees is the limit, make for dog days this time of year. Look for it to pick up as the water temps drop. But hey, 25 hours of fishing that resulted in a 9lber, tell us what works.

I'm with mav 186... A girlfriend that can fish for 25 hours AND land a 9lb fish..... KEEPER...... LOL
Roger is right on the money... errr.. fish..... O2 and PH are great tattle tails for fishing.... I keep an old pool test kit in the tackle box, and have a castable O2 sensor / monitor... Check out Bass Pro shops or Cabelas, and almost any Pool chem supply co.... they are not expensive, at least not what you need for fish huntin, and can really help get you in the strike zone..... Google, Bing, Ask Geives, etc... on PH / O2 and fishing.... and good job on landing the girl... I mean fish....
