Tryed fishing for steelhead on the stilly with not luck for a few hours hon sat. I made the comment we would do better fishing for koks so the 2 friends I was with said lets do it. I got to the lake around 8am and after setting up our home made cover we were off. We fishing in 90-130 ft of water under the boat and tryed various depths started at 21 and went down to 70 on the downriggers. I addjusted my speed from .9 to 2.0mph and it seems we were going to get skuncked once again. Some fish were still topping the water getting our hopes up so one of my friends put his downrigger at 15ft and fish on. Netted and in the boat he ran his line out about 30ft or so and fish on as soon as he hooked it into the snubber. After that excitement it calmbed down for a few and we moved everyone to 15ft. My other friends caught one nice one at 14.5 inchs. Then one more making it 4 in total. Our tent kept the heat in the boat to keep us warm and it was a nice day on the water. I never got to fight a fish on my road but my buddy let me play one on his. I think my rod didnt go off cuz it was on the wrong side of the boat. It was a cold but fun day. When we were leaving a fellow had just bought a boat and forgot the keys at home. That would suck thats for sure.

Just yestarday I was talking to my fishin buddy at work about finding a decent day of weather (mainly no wind) to try either Lake Stevens, Samish, or Cavanaugh for kokes. I appreciate your report.

Any day you can bag kokes in the winter season is a good day on the water. Looks like the fish you picked up had some good size to them, this bodes well for next summer!

Im not sure how cav will be I chose stevens cuz its lower in elevation and figured it was warmer. I hope your right G-man Im looking forward to next year. The last few times out we caught or seen a buch of small bright silver koks Im still new to this but I would think we would get some brutes next summer.
