Since I had some time to kill today, I ran over to Roses Lake around noonish, and hit the few spots along the parking area shore line. I rigged up one rod with worm/powerbait Dropshot style, and set it out then cast hardware in various colors. No bites or hits, but no one else was getting anything either. There were some fishermen at the dock when I arrived, and they left after a while of not catching. I went over to mainly get some pick of the ice, or lack thereof. There was a little ice/snow coverage on the North end, and the mid and south end was open water. It will be awhile before there is any hard water fishing here. I was tempted to put in the boat and troll for trout, but time didn't allow for it.
Stay safe out there

Looks like it would be pretty messy to try and put a boat in this time of year! lol... sure glad you guys get all 4 seasons over there, though. Merry Christmas!

Hi ya TomD, launching a boat in those conditions can get nasty sometimes, but usually with a little bit of caution and knowing the capabilities of the rig will let you do so safely. Thanks for the comment, and you and yours be safe and enjoy all the holiday season has to offer.

Hey loui. Where do you think they're hiding? The Falls hatchery just finished putting 17,000 in... Anton

Howdy Anton, my guess would be up in the NE section off the point, and in the southernhalf where the spring is, would be a good bet for trolling. Have you noticed the smaller bodies of water tend to be more affected by weather disturbances as compared to the Lake and the River? Roses should be excellent ice fishing when we get a solid cover, and the spring carry-overs should be fat and sassy.
